My research paper topic was inspired by my ancestor Able Garr who was a stone cutter for the Salt Lake Temple. A lot of my research will come from my darling grandmother who knows all about Able Garr's life and has his journals. I plan on comparing his experience with building the Salt Lake Temple and my experience with watching the construction of Provo City Center Temple. Or I could write about the process of building a temple today verses the process back then. Resources other than my Grandmother will include the Religious Studies Center specifically The article "The Design, Construction, and Role of the Salt Lake Temple". I'll also obtain information through LDS.org and other news articles documenting the Provo City Center Temples progress.
I think the comparison of building a temple today vs building a temple then sounds super interesting. Maybe you could figure out exactly what part of the temple Able Garr cut stones for. That would be super cool :)
ReplyDeleteNice! That's an awesome story about Able and would be great to write about! I've always wondered how they built the temples back then and how it differs from now. I think it's incredible the pioneers were able to build the SLC temple with how long it took. That must have been hard work!
